Serengeti Plains

Hi again all my readers,

I'm in Serengeti plains (if you didn't know thats a grassland, a national park, and a world heritage site) it is about 20 degrees celsius here and it is very dry. serengeti plains is located in south west Kenya and north west Tanzania (In Africa if you didn't know) and is about 13,000km².Serengetis awsome landscape has been shaped over many years by volcanic activity, rain, sun and wind. Its not just the landscape and grass in serengeti thats amazing, its also the animals. Did you know there is more then two million wildebeest and half a million thomsons gazelle. noone lives in serengeti national park except the staff and a couple of researchers. it is terrible that hunters have been killing the lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos.

I'll see you when i get to my next destination.

amazon rainforest

Hi
while i was in the amazon region i thought i might have a look around the rainforest. The amazon rainforest is over half of the remaining rainforest in the world. There is nearly 40,000 species of plants in the amazon rainforest. Deforestation is a big problem as many of the worlds rainforests are starting to disappear. The rainforests of the world used to cover about 14% of the worlds land but now only cover anout 6%. the amazon i home to more then 200,000 species of plants. Many of the worlds medicines come from the amazon rainforest.
thanks for reading I'll talk to you again when i get to my next destination.

the amazon river

hi again,

yesterday i flew into Iquitos in Peru. Iquitos is near the end of the amazon river. the amazon is the second longest river in the world at 6820 kilometres long.Today i have been traveling around the amazon river seeing some of the many animals that live in the waters of the amazon and looking at some of the amazing plants found on the banks of the amazon. the plants on the banks of the amazon weren't very big, beacause every wet season the amazon river floods. the amazon river has more water running down it then any other river in the world. the amazon river is about 6-10 kilometres wide. many people fish in the amazon river for food, and some animals are becoming rare because of it. It was amazing looking at the river of the amazon and in the next couple of days I will be looking at the amazon rainforest.

Antarctica

Hi,

I am now in Antarctica and I am freezing cold, well so is everything else. It is -50 degrees Celsius and pretty windy. there is noone that permanently lives here. The only vegetation on Antarctica is a little bit of grass. Did you know Antarctica is the worlds highest, driest, coldest and windiest continent of the world. Through the year Antarctica can receive from up to 24 hours of sunlight a day to none. about 900 people live on Antarctica in the winter and up to 3000 people stay there for the summer. it was terrible that many of the animals that live near to or on Antarctica have been hunted close to extinciton. I am happy that now we are trying to help protect the animals so they don't get extinct and so there ecosystem doesn't get destroyed and fall out of balance. I hope that antarctica remains how it is at the moment with no mines destroying the nature. I will soon be leaving Antarctica and heading to my next destination. hope you keep reading.

Death Valley

Hi,
I’m now in the USA at Death Valley. Death Valley is located on the borders of Nevada and California. It is the highest, hottest, and driest place in America. Today there is a powerful sandstorm raging in Death Valley and isn’t a very hot day for Death valley only being 50 degrees Celsius. The record for the highest temperature in the western hemisphere is held by Death Valley at 56 degrees Celsius. Yesterday I went down to the lowest place in
North America being 85 metres below sea level. Death Valley is the home to the native Timbisha tribe. Besides the Timbisha tribe Death Valley has only a couple of other familys living in it. In the desert when you look around you can find alot of salt and borax believed to be from when Death Valley was covered by water like an inland sea. At night temperatures in Death Valley can get down to below zero degrees Celsius. I find it amazing that the Americans made Death Valley into a national park so that it doesn’t get destroyed. I have had alot of fun looking at Death Valley but everything has to come to an end. I will tell you when I get to my next destination.

Opportunity of a lifetime

I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to travel around the world to many of its beautiful environments. As I travel around the world I will be telling you what I have been doing and leaving some pictures for you. Over this next period of time I will be visiting coasts, coral reefs, deserts, grasslands, mountains, polar lands, rainforests, rivers, tundra areas and wetlands. I hope that you will leave me some comments.
